Human Circuit – Lead Technology & Design Consultant on ‘Augmented Reality’ Project for Ballston BID
Ballston Business Improvement District (BID) Will Unveil Virtual Statues of D.C. Area Sports Stars at Taste of Arlington May 19, 2013
April 10, 2013, Gaithersburg, MD — Human Circuit announced today that their client, Ballston Business Improvement District (BID) in Arlington, VA is presenting their ‘augmented reality’ statues, that will honor some of D.C.s’ biggest sports stars, at Taste of Arlington in May, 2013. Human Circuit is the lead technology and design consultant behind the concept that is used for the ‘digital/virtual’ character images of notable Ballston superstars. Visitors can access these images with a smartphone app that creates the illusion that the stars are actually present allowing them to be photographed with celebrities as if they were actually there.
The “augmented reality” statues will pop up when a tablet or smart phone is pointed at the “AR marker.” The “statues” are actually brief three-dimensional videos that can be photographed. The Ovechkin, John Wall, Chris Pontius and Ted Leonsis “statues” will be unveiled in the coming months as part of this mobile application project that will also include Ballston mapping and event listings.
Bruce Kaufmann, Human Circuit’s CEO, stated; “Ballston BID has provided us with a great opportunity to explore technologies that we have been anxious to bring to a number of our clients. ‘Augmented Reality’ is amazingly interactive and it presents incredible potential to reinforce our goal – to develop a better relationship between people and technology.”
“All of the facets of Ballston’s dynamic personality shine with this creative venture,” BID President Tina Leone told Washington Business Journal, which first reported on the project. “It’s high-tech, brainy, artistic, sporty, athletic, mobile and, most of all, fun.”
