The Value of Free
We’ve all heard the expression “There’s no such thing as a free lunch.” The “Free Lunch” concept comes directly from the 19th century practice of bar/saloon owners of providing a free lunch (usually salty) in exchange of paying for the drink(s) (usually beer). And if you know anything about the bar and restaurant business you know the markup on a drink.
A tongue in cheek and entertaining video popped up on my radar this morning that confirms our thinking on providing our services and intellectual property for free. Traditionally and historically our industry has done this; providing a “free” design for potential clients with the trust that the business will come our way. It hasn’t worked. The new breed of buyer looks at this offer in the same way they look at “information” they can get off the Internet.
Information is free. Knowledge is not! Human Circuit provides knowledge. Therefore we offer a value proposition. We offer for a fee, to improve a client’s business…to help them sleep at night…to solve problems. Same way we all pay for lots of things that provide us with a value. Human Circuit provides value and nothing good is free!
Watch the video and it will all makes sense.
