Human Circuit Branches out of Medical Simulation Centers and Into the ‘OR’ in State of the Art Expansion of Baystate Medical Center
An Innovative Technology Integration Project for New Surgical Suites at Baystate Medical Center Features New Workflow and Control Approach
Gaithersburg, MD, February 29, 2012–Human Circuit–a technology–driven, design–build, media integration company – announced today that it has just completed an innovative and revolutionary integration project for the $296 million expansion of Baystate Medical Center in Springfield, MA.
Jim Hatcher, CTO for Human Circuit said; “This is a defining moment for us, we’ve done over 21 Medical Simulation Centers for teaching hospitals but this is the first time we’ve been able to step out of the simulation environment and into the operating room. ”
Human Circuit’s engineering team worked closely with Drake Systems Group, Inc. on the Baystate project. Drake Systems provided the initial system design specifications and supported Human Circuit’s contribution to the final result – an HTML based control interface designed to run on any device with a web browser. Mr. Hatcher went on to say, “We have stepped away from the cost and technical limitations imposed by purpose built touch panels. In effect; smartphones, tablets and integrated all–in–one PCs become the control service now. Our new “untethered” workflow is an innovative and easy–to–use solution for system control, communication and video distribution in the OR”.
Stan Hunter, project executive for Baystate’s expansion, said “Human Circuit’s expertise and innovation is a major contributor to the capabilities of the new endovascular suites in the facility. Building imaging and information technology integrally into our hybrid procedure rooms gives our clinical teams an unprecedented ability to deliver precise and efficient care.”
