U.S. Department of State
High Definition (HD) Production and Post-Production System
From the perspective of the CO.NX team (pronounced "connects") the goal of this new facility was to provide a base from which they could craft engaging and high-quality "live" programming. What took place was the transformation of a small, existing architectural space into a state-of-the-art High Definition (HD) production and post-production facility. A low failure rate and high-quality output were required and this current design, configuration and installation achieves everything that this client had in mind.
The Department of State (DoS) needed a new HD production and post-production system up and running quickly due to the need for high-level Government officials and other influential thinkers to be filmed on short notice. Quick support response to possible issues was also paramount in order to continue hosting senior-level officials for critically important programs—without interruptions.
The new studio supports very quick filming of high-profile celebrities and experts as well as a fast editing, formatting, versioning and distribution workflow. This new production facility is designed to easily push out live programming directly to the Internet and to hundreds of U.S. diplomatic missions worldwide.
Some of the highlights of the technology that was successfully engineered and integrated into this project are appreciated by the teams who are constantly discovering a myriad of ways in which this facility is able to connect various media assets—from live production to offsite guest speakers coming in via Skype to tying their conferencing system to the control room. The facility is also helping to greatly expand the notion of what a high-quality web chat really is within their global environment. The professional layout of the studio is increasing interest among other bureaus for joining in on their web chats and they fully expect more to come forward with requests for live programs out of this facility.
